Everything you ever wanted to know about Japan

From July 1998 until July 2000 I lived in the city of Kiryu in Gunma Prefecture, Japan. Don't worry, nobody else knows where that is, either. I taught English at four different public junior high schools. I was participating in the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme. (That isn't a typo -- it started in England, and they spell "program" wrong.)

While there, I stayed sane by writing emails to friends and family. Eventually, I started writing large updates and sending them as mass emails. These are those emails. They describe my life in Japan, as it was happening. They are informative, interesting, and even funny sometimes.

I would love to hear what you think about them, especially if you happen to be in the publishing business (wink wink, nudge nudge). You can email me.

My friend Jeff also wrote similar emails, which can be found here. I highly recommend his #23 entitled "Going to the Chapel and we're . . ."
